Wendell Newton Troy

Wendell N. Troy, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, March 22 at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Ga. He was born in Birmingham, AL. on September 5, 1926 but spent most of his childhood in Newnan, GA. After moving to Atlanta in his early teens, he left to join the US Navy at age 16. He returned to Atlanta after leaving the Navy and attended and graduated from Georgia State University where he met and married Mary Helen Diven Troy now deceased. They were married 32 years before her death in 1981. Wendell very much enjoyed the theater as well as traveling in the US and abroad. He authored and directed a number of plays in local small theaters until several years ago.

Wendell is survived by his children, Penelope T. Morgan, Roswell, GA, Wendell N. Troy, Jr., Atlanta, GA., Christopher D Troy, Lawrenceville, GA and Mary T. Sierra, Acworth, GA., 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 27 at Peachtree Road Lutheran Church at 4:00 PM in Northeast Atlanta.
