Thomas Sherwood Bingham

Thomas Tom Sherwood Bingham 84 of Norcross, Georgia, formerly of Sherwood, Watauga County, North Carolina, died on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Gwinnett Medical Center, Lawrenceville, GA., following an automobile accident. He was born on February 26, 1932 in Wilkesboro, North Carolina to the late Ralph Gray Bingham and Grace Sherwood Bingham. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Gray Bingham, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Patricia Mary Bingham.

He attended Cove Creek High School, North Carolina and Mayville State Teachers College in North Dakota. He served 4 years in the USAF from 1951 to 1955 and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. Following his discharge from the USAF Tom worked in the electronics industry for 36 years; 16 years with RCA and 20 years in the Compugraphic Division of AGFA Corporation. During those 36 years he lived and worked in the United States, Germany, Japan, Spain, the United Kingdom and France.

After retiring Tom was an enthusiastic member of Senior University at Mercer University, Atlanta; an avid reader and lover of opera. He was a member of the Masons, Mensa and the American Legion.

A Memorial Service will be held in Sugar Grover, North Carolina later this year.
