Russell Louis Mahony, 87, of Alpharetta GA passed away March 24, 2016.

Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts, he was the son of George Frederick Mahony and Pauline Stone Mahony, the older brother of Gordon M. Mahony, and graduated from Chelsea High School in 1946.

During the Korean War he served in the U.S. Army, HQ CO, 31st Infantry Division from February 20, 1951 until February 14 1953.

A graduate of Suffolk University, he was president of the class of 1957, and went on to graduate from Suffolk Law School in 1960.

Russell and his family resided in Newton and he practiced law in Chelsea, Boston, and Newton until 1995, when he and his wife retired to Georgia.

He was a member of the Star of Bethlehem Masonic Lodge of Massachusetts for 50 years, a member of the Aleppo Shrine, and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Alpharetta GA.

Russell is survived by his wife Nancy Holmes Mahony, his son James Russell Mahony, son Frederick Paul Mahony, his daughter-in-law Deborah Mahony, granddaughters Leighlee Mahony and Ava Mahony, and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be officiated by Pastor Donald Martin on Saturday April 2, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Alpharetta First United Methodist Church, 69 North Main St, Alpharetta GA 30009.
