Mollie Ann Braden (June 21, 1932-January 4, 2024)

Mollie Ann Braden, age 91, of Atlanta, GA, died peacefully on Thursday evening, January 4, 2024.

She is preceded in death by her father, Angus Griffith Brittain, mother Era Porter Brittain, and 10
brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her son Jim Braden (Hector Hernandez) of Atlanta, GA, daughters, Julie
Braden of Houston, TX, Susan Hobbs (Tim) of Henderson, KY, Nancy Platzner (Todd) of
Huntsville, TX, grandchildren Samantha Platzner, Mollie Hobbs, Rachel Hobbs (Kyle Vincent),
Nathaniel Hobbs (Katie Cherichello), and nephews and nieces.

For much of her adult life, Mollie was a homemaker, married for 26 years to JW Braden, Sr.,
lovingly raising her four children in numerous locations due to frequent transfers. Her family
traveled extensively during these years and was able to experience the culture of a dozen
different countries.

Mollie worked as a Sales Associate for the JC Penney Department Store where she was known
for her knowledge of the products she sold and helpfulness to her customers.
She also lovingly served as a caregiver for several Senior Adults, allowing them to remain in the
comforting environment of their homes.

After her retirement, Mollie’s time was freed up to pursue her true passions and hobbies
crocheting (which benefitted many of her family and friends who received gifts of her creations),
reading, and bird watching. She was an avid listener to WABE and watcher of nature and wildlife
shows.

Much of her time was also spent doting on her grandchildren.
Mollie was an early member of Kingswood United Methodist Church in Dunwoody, GA and later
a member of Embry Hills United Methodist Church in Chamblee, GA., serving faithfully in both
congregations.

A family memorial celebration will be arranged at a later date.
Her favorite charities were Special Olympics and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Memorial gifts
may be sent to the charity or place of worship of your choice.
