Linda Rae Creekmore passed away on December 26, 2024, held by her husband, after a long struggle against dementia. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa to Maurice and Ruth Burlingame. Linda moved frequently due to her father’s career and attended thirteen different schools before she graduated from High School in Nashville, TN.

She met Marion Creekmore, the love of her life, in Nashville, TN in 1958. She was a student at Peabody Teachers College and worked part-time. After a year and a half courtship, they were engaged and married a year later, June of 1961. Immediately following, they moved to New Orleans for 3.5 years while Marion attended Tulane University graduate school. Linda worked full-time as a secretary. The highlight of this chapter was the birth of their first daughter, October of 1964.

In January 1965, they moved to Washington D.C. where Marion became a United States career diplomat. For the next 28 years, they lived in the Washington DC area and five foreign countries. They welcomed their second daughter while overseas in September of 1966. After retiring in 1993, they relocated to Atlanta, GA where Marion began his second career. Linda, continuing her role as an active wife, became involved with the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta as well as her church, social clubs, activities with friends and family events.

Linda was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to supporting her husband’s career her primary responsibility was raising their daughters and in turn helping them raise their children. She was a forever wife, friend, mother and grandmother. Close personal relationships were the core of her being. Linda will be truly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her loving husband, Marion Creekmore, their two daughters, Catherine Decker and Debra Roesser, their daughter’s spouses and their four grandchildren, Collin and Sean Roesser and Nicole and Zoe Decker as well as her brother Larry Burlingame and his wife.
