Jeanne Wilson Galloway
Heaven gained a new angel when Jeanne Wilson Galloway passed away on October 9, 2021, in Columbus, GA at age 93.
Jeanne was born on November 7, 1927 in St. Charles, IL. She graduated from Olivet Nazarene College in Bourbonnais, IL with a degree in Music Education. She returned to Columbus and accepted a position as a teacher at Clubview Elementary, eventually retiring after more than 30 years. She was very active in community activities and was deeply involved in art and education for the majority of her life. She thoroughly enjoyed painting and periodically had her work displayed at Joseph House. She also participated in volunteer activities with organizations including Mercy Med and the Callaway Gardens Butterfly Center. Jeanne was also a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Columbus.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John Galloway, also of Columbus, GA. During their marriage they enjoyed many travels together including Australia, Alaska, Hawaii and Turkey. She was also preceded in death by her parents, John and Agnes Wilson and brother David Wilson.
Mrs. Galloway was a lovely woman who had a smile for everyone she met. She was a wonderful mother who loved her family and friends dearly.
She is survived by her sons Chris Hansen (Lisa) and Rick Hansen (Debbie) of Palm Coast, FL, her daughter Barbara Hansen Benoy of Golden, CO, stepson John (Paula) Galloway of Sugarland, TX and stepdaughter Lisa Galloway of Columbus, GA. She is also survived by her brother Tommy Wilson (Shelia) of Hendersonville, NC, sister Margaret Thornton of Calhoun, GA and brother John Wilson (Kathy) of Knoxville, TN. Mrs. Galloway is also survived by her grandchildren Laura Koch (Chris), Dane Benoy, Amanda Hansen, Elizabeth Hansen, Luke Benoy, Mary (Billy) Hayden, Sara Spurlock, Ian and Meghan Galloway. She also had great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews all of whom she adored.
