Ernest T Paul

With heavy hearts, the family of Ernest T. Paul of Marietta, Georgia, announces his passing on May 24, 2025, due to complications from diabetes. Ernie was 81.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Arloa Paul, and his parents, Vilma and Ernest Theodore Paul. He is survived by his loving daughters, Heather Braniff (Tom) and Kristin Hunt (Samuel); his brother, Ted Paul (Karen); and his cherished grandchildren, Connor and Morgan Braniff, and Davin and Holden Hunt. He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Born in Eger, Hungary on February 17, 1944, Ernie immigrated to the United States with his family at the age of 11, settling in Cleveland, Ohio. He went on to attend Case Western Reserve University, where he met Arloa—the love of his life and, as he often joked, the only girl in his accounting class. They married in May 1968 and built a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to family.
After a few years of marriage, Ernie and Arloa moved to Atlanta, eventually making their home in Marietta, where they became active members of the community. Ernie volunteered as a coach for numerous youth soccer teams and served on the soccer and basketball boards at Wheeler High School. He was also a faithful member and volunteer at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection.
Professionally, Ernie had a long and accomplished career in Information Technology, working as a Systems Analyst before transitioning to public service as a Taxpayer Advocate with the Georgia Department of Revenue.
Above all, Ernie treasured his role as a father. He devoted himself fully to his daughters, never missing a game, recital, or school event. His steady presence, warmth, and unwavering support were constants in their lives—and will remain in their hearts forever.
A drop-in visitation will be held on Sunday, June 15, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Marietta, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ernie’s memory to either the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection or the World Wildlife Fund, two causes close to his heart.
Ernie was a wonderful man and coach. He impacted the lives of so many young soccer players. His dedication to his teams and players will always be remembered. Besides his instruction, his caring and love for his players will never be forgotten.
