Cristina Ana Stroud

Cristina Ana Stroud, also known as Christine and lovingly known to her family as “La Vieja”, 75, of Dunwoody, GA, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2012, in her home under the care of Hospice Atlanta surrounded by her family. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and having lived in Brazil, Chile and Peru, she finally landed in Dunwoody to raise her family over the past 26 years. Cristina had several passions, having been a nurse at the British Hospital in Argentina and then with Kaiser Foundation Hospital in LA, then raising her family as a stay-at-home mom, to finish out her career as a private nanny, and finally a pre-school teacher at the Dunwoody United Methodist Church. She was also heavily involved in charitable causes, having spent most of her time in Chile and Peru working with the poor and underprivileged. She touched many lives and mentored many children, all of whom brought her much joy. She was preceded by her father Kit Kennard, mother Cristina Kennard, sister Margaret Kennard, brother James Foster and niece Valerie Foster. She is survived by her brother Ian Foster and wife Susana, son Brian McCullough and fiancée Ingrid, son Christopher Stroud and wife Claudia, and daughter Cristina Ramey and husband Shawn, grandchildren, Darsy and Denis, nieces Marina Conran, Sandra Baker and Ann Foster, nephews John Foster and George Foster, and many cousins, great nieces, nephews and godchildren. Cristina fought a long and treacherous battle with a rare and incurable cancer, Multiple Myeloma, for the past 7 ½ years. A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 11am at St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church located at 1978 Mount Vernon Road Dunwoody, GA 30338 – 770 393-1424. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation at: Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation MMRF 383 Main Avenue, 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851 or at www.themmrf.org. The family extends their appreciation for all the love, support and prayers they have received.
