Albert Richard Bunn
A. Richard Bunn, known to many affectionately as “Dick,” peacefully passed away on November 17, 2024. Dick’s legacy is one of inspiration — zest for life, and encouraging others to find beauty and joy in the world as he did.
Born on November 29, 1950, in Griffin, Georgia, Dick graduated from Griffin High School before moving to Atlanta to attend Georgia Tech where he sang in the Glee Club and became a lifelong Yellow Jackets fan. After graduating with an architecture degree, he began his long career in Atlanta. Dick loved designing spaces that were both beautiful and functional, places where form and purpose met. He was an active member of the American Institute of Architects.
A college summer in Cortona, Italy, deepened his love for architecture, design, history, food, and gardening, inspiring him to savor life’s pleasures. He found joy in sharing these with friends. He loved the arts, especially symphony, opera, and film, even making cameos in local movies.
Above all, Dick – or “Dickie” to his beloved Ken – was a loving husband and loyal friend whose essence was to inspire curiosity for the everyday wonders that surround us. His warmth and sharp wit touched the lives of all who knew him, making each feel unique and cherished. Though we grieve his loss, we celebrate the full life he lived and the mark he left. His spirit endures.
Dickie is survived by his cherished husband, Ken Felts, and their adored whippets, Aurora and Tut. Dick was predeceased by his mother Edna, father Preston, brothers Bobby and Eddie, and treasured partner David Kerner.
A small gathering of friends will be held this Sunday, November 24th, from 2 – 4 PM at Ken and Dickie’s home in Atlanta. A future celebration of life will be planned. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation or the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra’s InUnison for LGBTQ+ program.

It is with much sadness that I was informed of Richard’s passing. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing him for about 30 years on a personal level. My best to his husband/life partner and family at this time. I myself will be going through the reflection of many great memories. Rest in peace my friend Richard…. Phoenix, Arizona
