Robert Hugh Hunter, 92, passed to his eternal home on Friday, May 22nd, and joyously reunited with his beloved wife of 36 years, Virginia Lee (Williams) Hunter. Born January 2nd 1928 in Indiana PA, to Hugh Hunter and Ruth Lois (Metz) Hunter. He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia, and one daughter, Kim O’Neill (Toby). He was a wonderful spouse, father, and friend to those who loved him and he will be missed. He leaves behind his children, Vicki Hanes (Don), Debbie Bechtold (Wayne), Kathy Ott (Tony), Robert Hunter Jr. (Sheila), Barbara Park (Tim), Richard Hunter, Donna Rauch (Chris), Steve Krush, and Kirstie Bassett (Ernie) who took loving care of him during his final year and a half. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He graduated from Girard College in Philadelphia, and Indiana State Teachers College, and proudly served in the Navy during WWII. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed showering friends with the bounty from his garden. He was an expert raconteur and enjoyed using his extensive vocabulary on unsuspecting medical staff and others in his circle of friends and family. He was a member of First Baptist Church Simpsonville, S.C. and any memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Simpsonville in care of David Morehead or to your church in his memory. A celebration of his life will be held at East Newnan Baptist Church, Newnan, Georgia on June 20th, 2020 at 11:00.
