Clifford, Robert Carl died on November 5, 2018 at the age of 65, following a three-year battle with cancer.

A native of Atlanta, Carl was a graduate of Cross Keys High School and attended the University of Georgia where he obtained a degree in Fine Arts. In 1977, he relocated to New York City with several UGA theatre colleagues where they created the informal group “New Georgia.” In New York, Carl began work in the film business, working for four decades as a production manager/producer on many notable films, including “Apollo 13,” “Armageddon,” “Godzilla,” “Ransom” and “The Paper.”

In 2000, he returned to Atlanta to assist with the care of his parents. He soon became instrumental in the growth of Georgia’s film industry, working on such projects as “Warm Springs,” “Stomp the Yard,” “The Blind Side,” “Single Ladies” and “Finding Carter.” Carl received industry awards for his work on “Apollo 13” and “Warm Springs.” At a UGA reunion in Athens of the New Georgia group in 2007, Carl met the love of his life, Kim Cretors, whom he later married.

Carl was renowned for entertaining and amusing his friends. He had a life-long love of music and was always noted for his ability to organize and take charge of any situation.

Carl was preceded in death by his father, Robert Clifford and is survived by his wife Kim, his mother Louise Clifford and his sister Cathy (Chris) Greco. The family is planning a celebration of Carl’s life, the date and time to be announced in the near future.
