So excited I found this article as it made thnigs much quicker!

  2. Carole and Walter Brown says:

    Jing and other family members,

I decided to try and find Ralph this evening and sadly discovered that he had passed away. We knew Ralph at Earlham. There are many wonderful stories about Ralph because he was so funny. For example, he had a dog named Cannabis! Once when a visiting scholar who was at Earlham commented that the dog needed food, Ralph replied without hesitation that “it was a psychology experiment!”. I still laugh at his irreverent attitude which was so fitting.

On a slightly more serious note, I remember Ralph singing the James Taylor song, Close your eyes. Jing, if you don’t know this song, you may want to find it. There is a new version of James Taylor and Carole King singing it. It is a brief lullaby and ends with, “You can sing this song when I’m gone.”. With all best wishes, Carole Williams Brown and Walter Brown, 4222 18th St., NW, Washington, DC 20011

  3. Phil Tomlinson says:

Ralph was a one-of-a-kind friend. I met him at Earlham. He was bold and outspoken, warm and friendly, honest and unafraid. Ralph gave me a place to stay when I was down and out. He was always generous with his smokes, his weird sense of humor, whatever he had to give. It was an honor to know him.
