Resided in: Johns Creek, Georgia

Patricia Ann Nemec (Schoonover) passed away Friday, July 13, 2018 surrounded by her loving husband and family.  She was born February 7, 1939 in Derwent, Ohio.  She met her husband, Jim Nemec, while waiting for a bus in Columbus, Ohio, where she worked in radio.  He thought she was beautiful and convinced a friend to set them up. They were married shortly after and were set to celebrate their 58th wedding anniversary this October.

Pat and Jim raised five children: Rik McCoy, Mindy Wheeler (Tim), Penny Godwin, Erin Hanson (Lee) and Andrea Vaillancourt (Scott) and lived in Cincinnati, OH; DuBois, PA; and finally, Johns Creek, GA.  Pat seamlessly combined parenting with a successful career as an interior designer.  Her work was published in Better Homes & Gardens and other publications. She was a lifelong volunteer at the church, her children’s schools, or in her community of Sugar Mill in Johns Creek, GA. She taught her children that serving and loving others was a life most like Christ.

Pat was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She is predeceased by an infant son, Jason Nemec, and her sister Barbara.  She is survived by her husband, her sister, Jacqueline, and children along with ten grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren:  Loni Jackson (Ron), Caitlin Gouws (Jacques), Alyssa Pankhurst (Jeff), Alexandra Garner (Jonathan), Grant Godwin, Chelsea Godwin, Eliza Crawford (Mike), Mackenzie Hanson, Madison Godwin, Jake Hanson, Elliot Pankhurst, Gibson Pankhurst, Shepherd Jackson, Emmie Jackson, Linley Gouws, Hadden Pankhurst, Jack Garner.

Her service will be Wednesday, July 18th at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at Johns Creek Baptist Church 6910 McGinnis Ferry Rd, Alpharetta, GA 30005. All are welcome.  The family will host a reception at the church immediately following.

    Praying and celebrating Pat’s life!

  2. Rebecca and Kelly Beaver says:

It was a true honor and blessing to know her and call her my friend. Pat stood for everything that was honest and good in life, and will be in our hearts forever. Continued prayers for Jim, and her wonderful family that she adored so much.

  3. Val Martini says:

I miss you Pat. So hard to believe you are gone from this earth. You went away too soon. We still had many things to share and discuss. But in the end you are remembered well by your friends and family.
