Doris Chinery White

Doris Chinery White, age 95, passed away on January 5, 2019. Doris was born on June 3, 1923, and was raised on Rainbow Avenue in Port Richmond, Staten Island, New York. During WWII, Doris worked for Electric Boat in the Empire State Building. In 1947 she married William C. White, Sr. Doris lived in New York, Connecticut, Florida, Atlanta, Yatesville, and Rocky Face, Georgia. She is pre-deceased by her husband, her parents, Dora May Decker and Daniel Henry Chinery, her sister Constance Henrietta Chinery, and her baby daughter, Frances Mary White. Doris leaves behind five sons and one daughter: Daniel C. (Sarah), William C., Jr., (Penny), Paul J. (Sue), Theodore M., John F. (Carolyn), and Mary A. White; eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Lucretia Gonthier and the Lighthouse Personal Care Home in Rocky Face, Georgia, for the loving care they provided to Doris.
A memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Bill and Doris White Scholarship at Gordon State College (gordonstate.edu/fndscholarships); The Saint Vincent Paul Society (svdpgeorgia.org); or Water For Life (waterforlife.org).
