Carla Jean Sweetwood

Carla Jean (Deck) Sweetwood, 65, of Atlanta died December 10, 2017. She was born in Wilmington, OH to Carl W. Deck and Nikola S. (Gall) Deck, and was the sister of Thomas E. Deck. She attended Wilmington High School and the University of Cincinnati.

Carla is survived by her husband of 45 years, John Thomas Sweetwood, her three children, Timothy Andrew Sweetwood and Jeffrey Thomas Sweetwood of Atlanta, and Catherine Sweetwood Procuniar of Houston, TX, and three grandchildren, Andrew Theodore (Teddy) and Lauren Catherine Procuniar, and Hannah Grace Sweetwood.

Carla had a successful career in real estate, but her true passion was helping others. Throughout her life she was an active volunteer in work, school, charitable, and cultural organizations. She was the first to be there for anyone in need, and last to leave if there was still work to be done.

Funeral services will be private. A Memorial Service to celebrate Carla’s life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 16 at Holy Innocents Episcopal Church in Atlanta.
