Ann Benson passed away on Friday, December 15. She lived at Brooke Farm, Dunwoody, Georgia. Ann was born in Rockford, Illinois on December 20, 1930. She graduated from Muldoon High School in Rockford, obtained her undergraduate degree from Mercer University and her Masters in Psychological Services from Georgia State University. In 1979, Ann began her career at Georgia State University Perimeter College – Dunwoody campus where she remained until her retirement after 32 years as a Student Affairs Counselor. While living in the Dunwoody Community for years, Ann was a member of Dunwoody Country Club and enjoyed tennis and golf. Most recently her passion was playing bridge, with a dream of being a Life Master (which she reached in August, 2017). As a charter member of All Saints Catholic Church, she helped with the Bereavement Committee. Ann was extremely proud of her 8 grandchildren: Brant Barrow (Alecia), Rebecca Barrow (Michael Milligan) Kate Benson, Kelley Benson Boland (Kevin), Alex Hall, Alanna Hall, Abby Benson and Sydnee Benson – always attending their events. She was predeceased by her parents, Edrie and August Lietz; her husband of 52 years, Melvin Benson and her beloved son, James Michael Benson. She is survived by her three children Sharon Benson Barrow (Brantley), Lynne Benson Hall and Scott Edward Benson (Candy) and her two sisters Mary Jo Doty (Bob) and Elizabeth Doty both of Pecatonica, Illinois and her daughter in law Sandy Benson. She is also survived by her long time friend Richard Lyon. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to Georgia State University Perimeter College, Dunwoody campus, Scholarship Fund. Services will be held at All Saints Catholic Church in Dunwoody on Wednesday, December 20 at 10:30am . Reception will follow the Mass in the Social Hall. Red and Black attire is requested.
