Ann Elizabeth Green Simon Chatham passed away peacefully on November 15, 2017. Ann was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 20, 1926 to adoring parents Alice and Charles Green. She was the apple of her parent’s eye. She moved from Glenview, Illinois where they were members of South Shore Country Club to Atlanta, Georgia to raise her family. After two years in college, she was a fashion model in Chicago in her twenties, and she and her sister were Tuckerettes, showcasing the famous automobile at that time, the Tucker. She was married to well known Atlanta business man Joseph Anthony Simon, Sr. for 26 years and raised four children. After his passing at 51, she later remarried Calvin Coolidge Chatham, and was with him until his passing after 27 yrs together. Survived by Allyn (Lyn) Simon Bell, Laura Ann Simon, formerly Laura Timberlake, Joseph A. Simon, Jr and his wife, Diana Bonham Simon, and John Charles Simon, grandson, Ryan A. Bell, his wife and two great Grandchildren, her sister Roberta (Bobby) Jagor and her husband, Bruce R. Jagor, four surviving nieces and nephews and their spouses, 10 great nieces and nephews. She was a strong, independent successful business woman, loved fashion, make up and ballroom dancing , was a district manager for Avon, and worked with Rich‘s and Lord and Taylor’s for Adrian Arpel for many years. She loved playing bridge, was a good golfer, and enjoyed time with her family, especially on their cabin cruiser on Lake Lanier at Ann’s Island. An exceptionally beautiful woman inside and out, she was admired and loved by many.
Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Brendan the Navigator Church in Cumming, Georgia at 4633 Shiloh Road, Cumming, Ga. 30040, 770-205-7969 on December 1, 2017 at noon , followed by a reception downstairs at 1PM. Donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital-Georgia connection, at 5901 Peachtree Dunwoody Rd. Ste. A255, Atlanta Ga. 30328, 770-416-7707, as Ann always had an affinity for mentally challenged, disabled and sick children, or to the Alzheimer’s Association at act.alz.org, as she had a 6 year struggle with dementia. Flowers are welcome to be sent to the service the day prior, and will be shared with local Memory Care facilities.
